More Strep

Just a quick update. Brittney is doing much better and she spent her first night back in her own bed last night. However, she just traded places with Alexcis. Yup, Alexcis was showing signs last night so I took her to the doctor this morning and it is strep! My pediatrician said that children under the age of two rarely get strep so hopefully that mean that the babies will not get it. Well, Alexcis is on meds now so she should be feeling better by tomorrow. So a long week of sickness around here should be over! Thanks for the prayers!

Little Brittney hasn't been feeling well since Sunday evening. She was spiking temperatures up to 104.3! She was feeling miserable and sleeping in our room and waking up throwing up with high temps. around 103. I thought it was probably viral, but today i finally decided to have her checked out to make sure it wasn't an ear infection. Her temp. in the doctor's office was 104.2 so they ordered blood tests, urinalysis, and a throat culture. Well, we didn't have to do the blood test because the culture came back showing strep. She wasn't complaining about her throat at all. It is so hard to know with little ones. I really don't like the high fevers with Brittney because last year she had a fibrile seizure during a temp spike and i am always afraid of it happening again. Well the pediatrician said Brittney should be feeling better soon, but no preschool tomorrow. (that made Brittney upset.) She is sleeping again, which is what she had done a lot of the last three days. Hope everyone else is feeling okay.

A Quiet Week

Well, we have had a relaxing week around here! I went to school with Alexcis last week for a breakfast. Of course I took the camera and took a bunch of pictures until she was like "mom". Isn't she to young for that? It was really nice to be there with her and have some one on one time. She really enjoyed it too and she is looking forward to when daddy goes to school with her next week for a 'donuts with dad' breakfast.

We got a little bit of snow one evening last week and the girls went out with Steve to clear the driveway and then ended up making six snowman. (one for each family member!) They were finishing up and they were all on their way into the house when little Brittney yelled "my head fell off!!" It was so funny but she was quite upset about it and Steve went back out to help her fix it! Oh, our little Britt!

I have my second post placement appointment with Candace this coming week. These are scheduled times to meet with the social worker from our adoption case. She just checks in on Candace and her adjustment and development. We need to have some paperwork completed as well as pictures. One certain picture that we need is a picture of Steve and I with Candace.
We didn't have anyone here to take it and I wanted to get it printed this weekend so Alexcis took a bunch of photos of us and I picked the best one! We just can't believe how big Alexcis is getting!! So yeah, Candace has been home for six months now and she is doing great!

More Fun!

Just four days after Christmas my little guy turned one year old! Even though we felt all "gifted out" we had a birthday party for him. He actually seemed more interested in opening gifts at his two birthday gatherings than he did at Christmas. Maybe it was a bit less craziness because he was the only one opening gifts this time. Who knows; but he enjoyed it so we were very glad we had the party. Dylan absolutely loves dinosaurs (he is all boy already!) Whenever he sees a dinosaur (or dragon, or lion) he says: "raaaaaaaa"! My sister Tawana got him a whole set of little dinosaurs and now we take a couple of them with us everywhere. At his last doctors appointment he continued to hold up one of his dino's and tell the nurse and doctor "raaaa" "raaa"! He also got a real big one, he wasn't so sure about it at first but he warmed up very quickly.

Dylan was so clean and neat eating his cake! (unlike his sister who had it up her nose, in her ears and hair!) He just sat there forever picking at it with two fingers and eating tiny little bits at a time! But he really liked it, he said 'mmmmm'!

This past weekend we finally got together with some friends of ours who we haven't seen in a while. They recently became parents for the first time and we got to visit with them and their beautiful baby girl! Brittney just loved the baby, she was by her side the entire time. It brought back so many memories of how the girls were when Dylan was that tiny. Brittney used to sit and "read" him books and he would actually fall asleep. Alexcis would rock him while i got house cleaning done. They loved the tiny baby stage and they were such big helpers and they still are. Brittney with baby Karissa:

and the last picture is her opening her Christmas gift with her mommy. Of course you can see the top of Brittney's little head in the picture because I just couldn't get her to move far enough away to be out of the picture!!
